In general, the best direction for kitchen should go to who does the most cooking in the house to feed the rest of the family. ie if the wife of the house does most of the cooking, then it is best you have the cooking stove/area face the direction she commonly use. This is to give her the best amount of luck when she cooks.

The other method is to depend on the layout. But this is hard for anyone to explain as it all depends on the layout and flying star. The easiest for you to apply would be the above finding the best facing for the person who use the kitchen the most.
