So I read that changing names can have effects on a person's luck.

And this applies to people with Chinese names.

What about those with English names only?

Unfortunately, the name stroke analysis was designed mainly for Chinese Names only. So there isn't analysis system that was converted for English Names.

There are however, some analysis that bases on the assignining each english alphabet with a five element. So probably it is still possible to use the number characters in the name in some way. But given, this is not a traditional analysis method, so there is no way anyone can tell if they can replicate an similiar calculation system similiar to the Chinese Name analysis.
