Monica
Hi Shellie,I have a sharp corner that I needed to "fix". I used a plastic vine and ran it along the entire edge. It softened the corner, and balanced the room. This might work for you.MonicaFrom: "Shellie Wilson" This message is sent from "free-advice" Mailing List.I live in a small 2 bedroom 3rd story apartment . there is a beam running thru the apartment however it does not run central it runs aprox 1 metre from the edge of the wallthis beam sits directly over my position on the bed iam laying along with the beamthere is no room to move the bed .would problems cause this be causing me ?and how can i fix it ?******______________________________________________________Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
sun888_99
Dear monica,I think shellie should not use plants/vines to cover the beam since according to traditional feng shui it is not a good idea to use plants in the bedroom. I think she should use one of the cures provided by cecil. Thanks.Anon
Staff Cecil Lee Posted October 16, 1999 Staff Share Posted October 16, 1999 Dear Monica & Anon,I believe anon has `read' my mind as usually the advise is not to use plants. But strangely, some of us are more `tolerant' to the use of plants even in the bedroom. For example in the case of a mirror facing the bed, I known some who do not have an `ill' effects of a mirror facing their bed while others do have some discomfort over this.I believe, human beings are diverse and certain `concepts' cannot be universally applied to everyone.Warmest Regards,Cecil Quote On 10/16/99 2:17:00 AM, Anonymous wrote:Dear monica,I think shellie should not useplants/vines to cover the beamsince according to traditionalfeng shui it is not a goodidea to use plants in thebedroom. Monica
Hi Folks,Didn't realize I was starting a debate.....I always figured that plastic plants...vines...were much different than real vines. Plastic is more for decoration, while the real thing is a living, "breathing" entity of sorts. A plastic vine to me is much like putting out a bedspread with vines drawn on it. It's pleasing to the eye, and takes the "edge" off an edge. But, it's not a plant. Never was, and never will be. It's just a pretty thing.Monica----Original Message Follows----From: "Listmanager" Reply-To: "Free Advice (General Topics)" To: (Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed)Subject: Re: Overhead BeamDate: Sat, 16 Oct 1999 07:41:23 +0800From: "Cecil Lee" This message is sent from "free-advice" Mailing List.Dear Monica & Anon,I believe anon has `read' my mind as usually the advise is not to use plants. sun888_99
Hi monica,In feng shui symbolism matters. For examplehaving a blue roof is considered bad becauseit is considered having water on roof. Bluecolor is not water but it symbolizes water. In the same way plastic vines and flowers areconsidered to be plants in feng shui.Anon

Staff Cecil Lee Posted October 21, 1999 Staff Share Posted October 21, 1999 Dear Shellie,The metal is used to counteract a wooden beam. Some FS practioners would also use it on `earth' element i.e. concrete beams. But it is not effective. This is because under the Five Elements Destructive relationship (Ref: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/5element.htm ) Metal destroys Wood weaking it. But if one introduces Metal, it has had no effect to weaken a beam `made of earth'. Internally, many beams are supported by metal structures. Therefore, as you have mentioned, I stated that the above cure is meant for a wooden beam. What you have done is `modern' and not mentioned anywhere as a tradtional `cure'. It is really no harm trying it but I cannot say that it will work thou. The other method would be to use two wooden bamboo flutes with the profile of the "top-half" forming a Trigram placed on one side of the beam. Best to place it closer to the bed room door entrance or visible from the door entrance.Warmest Regards,Cecil Quote On 10/21/99 11:39:18 AM, Anonymous wrote:thanks ..although i dont believe thebeam is wood if that makesmuch difference ...what i have done and i hope itis ok isi have a white lace curtainand have pinned it over thebed to the cieling causing afalse feel of roof ? ..its see thru in printedpatches is that ok ? ... brokendove
I believe it has helped in some ways ...but there now seems to be a new problem Iam unsure if it is related or not .but now both I and my partner are not sleeping well .could this be related to the changes ? although it didnt start immeadietly
Staff Cecil Lee Posted November 3, 1999 Staff Share Posted November 3, 1999 Dear Shellie,As what we have discussed about i.e. placement of `cures' is based on basic Feng Shui, therefore these are piecemeal activities. What I can help is based on available information at hand. Because there are other cross checks that can further analyse the situation as we have not gone further into applying other FS applications. If you have not done anything other thing than to place the six coins, then you can try to take it down if it seems to be the cause of not sleeping well.
