Suggested steps/stairs for 3 level townhouse

Hello.
If I plan to build a 3-storey townhouse, is it okay to have 10 steps per floor? 10 steps is considered auspicious right? However if I add the 10 steps of the 1st floor and 10 steps of the 2nd floor then the total is 20 which is INAUSPICIOUS. So which is which? It is rather confusing.
When counting steps in a 2 or 3-storey house; do you count from the 1st floor all the way to the 3rd floor - which means that you add all the steps from the 1st floor all the way to the 3rd floor? OR do you just count the steps of the first floor...then the 2nd floor will have separate counting?
