Usually, in many instances, the auspicious time is based on:
1. phonetic sounding of the numbers. For example, common timing would include:-
8.x8 am where the time has an 8 (in Cantonese `Fatt' or auspiciousness)
8.x9 am where the time has a 9 (9 sounds like longevity).
or 9.x8 am or 9.x9am
The above timings are nice sounding and also:-
2. They are yang hours of the day.
For example, the thing to do is to insert the key into the wooden main door and wait for such a time e.g. 8.28am or 8.29am and then once this is ok, open the door....

If you are moving in the afternoon, avoid moving in after 3.00pm. As this is considered closer to `Yin' timing.
For moving in it is preferred to perform the `ritual' early.
You do not need to perform the ritual on the same day. You can also do it a few days earlier.
For the Chinese, they avoid moving in during the 7th month. The 7th month is between 9 August 2002 to 5 September 2002. You will be moving in earlier than this date, so, there is no problem.

Good luck on your move. For those who want to find out more about this `ritual', I have attached either a .txt format and a MSword document relating to the common ritual for house moving.
Warmest Regards,
