Dear Desma,
The first thing we need to know is that Feng Shui is about balance.
For small objects or items such as a ring, it really does not matter. I usually apply the 33.3 percent ruleset. Where, if the item is not greater than the above either in mass, volume or area, it does not really matter that much. Furthermore, I believe, the sharp corners of the diamond should not pose any problems.
A square diamond ring, can be considered of the `Earth' element if we talk interms of its shape and some would consider that it is derived from the earth, it is thus an Earth element. (Square shape represents Earth element).
In some other culture perhaps, I am not sure if square diamonds are considered `inasupicious'.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
