Dear Ben,
Yes, if it is a Ba Gua mirrior, it is indeed octagon shape and not round.
But, the one that is normally used for your rental home, should be red/green in colour - (usually with a flat mirror).
Alternatively, try to get one with the ba gua mirror and the picture with a door god below it.
For the time being, you can use a circular mirror.
The best time to hang the mirror is:-
1st choice - the 1st day of any lunar month. (Preferably on any months other than the 7th lunar month).
The good dates to hang the Ba Gua mirror is:-
January 27, 2002 - 12th Lunar Month
The 1st of each Lunar Month is also considered a good date to hang it.
Alternatively, a more personalised date is using the Auspicious Date at www.geomancy-online.com
Care of the items hung:-
========================
Due to the weather/ UV light and exposure to outdoor, these items should be:-
1. Checked every one or two years. If faded or in poor quality, be replaced.
2. To remove these items, best to wrap it in an old newspaper and discard it and tie it with a red string. Throw it away in the bin. (The red string is optional, thou).
Warmest Regards,
Cecil Lee
